KNX technology: the world’s only open STANDARD for all applications in Home and Building Control, ranging from lighting, shutter control to various security systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, monitoring, alarming, water control, energy management, metering as well as household appliances, audio and lots more. For members of the KNX Association, the system is royalty-free and can be implemented on any processor platform.

KNX is approved as a European (CENELEC EN 50090 and CEN EN 13321-1) and a Worldwide standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3). This standard is based on over 18 years of experience in the market also by its predecessors EIB, EHS and BatiBUS.

KNX supports several communication media (Twisted Pair, Power Line, Radio Frequency and even Ethernet/IP) and different configuration modes (Easy and System). The technology can be used in new as well as in existing home and buildings. All products bearing the KNX logo are certified in order to guarantee system compatibility, interworking and interoperability. One common Engineering Tool Software (ETS) can be used for planning, design and commissioning of installations – multi-vendor and cross discipline.

KNX main assets are:

• Certification: The KNX certification guarantees a high level of product quality and interoperability.
• Training: The training courses at different levels are given in KNX certified training centres.
• Software: ETS is the manufacturer and product independent common software-tool for project planning, engineering, and configuration of all KNX certified products.
• Standardisation: Standardised Application Profiles are an integral part of the KNX standard.
